Printing

Offset printing technology uses plates, usually made from aluminum, which are used to transfer an image onto a rubber ‘blanket’, and then rolling that image onto a sheet of paper. It’s called offset because the ink is not transferred directly onto the paper. Offset printing is the best choice when larger quantities are needed, and provides accurate color reproduction, and crisp, clean professional looking printing.

  1. Large quantities can be printed cost effectively
  2. The more you print, the cheaper the price per piece
  3. A large variety of paper types with custom finishes can be used
  4. Special custom inks such a s metallic and pantone colors are available
  5. Highest possible printing quality, with greater detail and color fidelity

Paper Types

  1. GSM or Grams per Square Meter is the basic unit measurement to determine the weight and thickness of the paper.
  2. Higher GSM, the heavier and the thicker the paper.
  3. Lower GSM is preferred for items such as hand-outs and coupons while higher GSM is for event invitations, business cards, boxes and the like.
  1. C2S – Coated paper on both sides. This is usually used for professional printing of brochures, flyers, yearbooks, etc.
  2. Foldcote – Board type of paper that is coated on one side with white paper backing. Smoother feel compared to claycoat. Think of your typical food grade meal box.
  3. Claycoat – Board type of paper that is coated on one side with unfinished/gray backing. Cheaper than foldcote. This can be used for pizza boxes.
  4. Kraft paper – manufactured from softwood trees. Due to the “virgin” fibres, it is both the strongest type of paper and also the easiest to print on. Kraft board is used to make boxes, it sandwiches and holds corrugated boards in place.
  5. Chipboard – A thick paper that is usually made from 100 percent recycled fiber. It is made from waste paper used mainly in packaging, usually colored gray.
  6. Carrier board – A coated board that is colored white on one side and colored brown on the other side, has the wet-strength to accommodate freezer storage.
  1. 3D Lamination – A decorative lamination used for the protection of digital media from scraping, and water, it can also be used for decoration, advertising, photo albums and much more.
  2. Spot Lamination – lamination applied on a portion of the product.
  3. Matte Lamination – lush, soft, low-key in appearance, matter lamination does not produce any glare. You can write over a matte product. Scratches and scuffs are also less visible.
  4. Plastic Lamination – add clear plastic film to paper to enhance and protect it.
  5. UV Varnish – curable liquid plastic made under UV light.
  6. Ordinary Varnish – transparent, hard, protective finish. A combination of a drying oil, a resin, a thinner or solvent.
  7. Embossed – an image that is raised from the surface of the paper.
